Frequently Asked

What does a Reiki practitioner do?

A Reiki practitioner serves as a conduit for the Reiki energy and transfers it via the hands. Reiki practitioners do not heal any person or animal, but merely convey the life force energy to their client—giving them the energy they need to heal themselves.

Reiki practitioners use a series of set hand positions and/or move their hands where they feel guided. They will also focus on areas that their clients believe need attention. Oftentimes, Reiki practitioners will be able to sense where treatment is needed based on what they feel in their hands. If a client indicates that he or she isn't comfortable with hands-on treatment, the practitioner can convey Reiki energy with hands above the body.

With animals, practitioners begin offering Reiki from a distance until the animal indicates it wants hands-on treatment. Then one set hand position or multiple hand positions are used.
